All the latest news and rumours on Apple’s iPad mini 2 release date
Despite Steve Jobs’ comments Apple launched an iPad mini so when will the iPad mini 2 tablet arrive? We’ve rounded up all the leaks and rumours surrounding the Apple iPad mini release date.
The iPad mini was announced last October, shortly after the iPhone 5 and along with the iPad 4, and we weren’t surprised. With the success of Google’s Nexus 7 and other devices it made sense that Apple offered a more affordable and smaller version of its popular iPad. See also: iPhone 6 release date.
We’ve had the iPad mini for a few months now, it went on sale in November with the iPad 4, so you might be wondering when its successor will arrive, presumably the iPad mini 2. See also: iPad mini video review.
It’s thought that the iPad mini 2 will be much like the original iPad mini but ave upgraded components. Namely the 7.9in screen will be upgraded from the iPad 2 matching resolution of 1024 x 768 to Retina quality 2048 x 1536.

iPad mini 2 release date rumours
Things are somewhat up in the air since Apple broke its regular iPad generation cycle with the iPad 4 and iPad mini. These were announced in October when Apple normally introduces them in March.
The first and closest release date for the iPad mini 2 is April, according to iMore. It cites unnamed sources which said it could arrive along with the iPad 5. Apple hasn’t sent out any invites yet so we’ll have to wait and see on this front.
The other possibility at the moment, and the more likely in our opinion, is that Apple will release the iPad mini 2 later in the year. A year after the original launch in October/November would make sense.
